Card Games You Can Play
Dynasty
The object of this game is to collect all of the face cards (high cards) in one suit (Ankhs, Pyramids, Nu, and Sphinx). Each player is dealt 5 cards. The remainder of the deck is placed face down on the table and the top card from the deck is placed face up on the table next to the “discard pile”.
To play, each player must draw one new card and then discard one card from their hand. A player may draw a card from the deck or pick up the top card of the discard pile. If the player wants to keep the drawn card, another card in their hand must be discarded. When the last card of the deck is drawn, the discard pile may be reshuffled to continue drawing. As play progresses, each player will try to collect, a Ra, Pharoah, Queen and Priest card of one suit to create a dynasty. When a player has all four cards of the dynasty in their hand, they can declare “Dynasty” and show their hand to win. On the declaration of dynasty, one card must be disposed totaling the four remaining face cards.
Optional Rules:
The wild cards can be used for this game to substitute for any other face card in the deck. The mummy card may as part of the deck may be used to deny formation of a dynasty of drawn and the player is out.
Down The Nile
The object of this game is to dispose of all the cards in your hand. This game is similar to the conventional game, go fishing. Each player is dealt 5 cards, depending on the number of players. The remainder of the deck is placed face down and the top card from the deck is placed face up. Play begins, when the “card in play” is played to. Players then take turns at play at the “card in play”. To play, each player chooses a card from his/her hand to match either suit or the numerical value of the card in play. For example, if the card in play is the “4 of Pyramids”, the player can choose to play the “4 of Sphinx”, the “4 of Ankh”, “4 of Nu” or any other Pyramid card. The first player to dispose of all cards in their hand by matching it to the “card in play” wins.
Forty-Two (42)
The object of this game is to collect cards of the same suit that add up to the number 42 without going over. The object of the game is similar to the conventional game of twenty-one or Blackjack. Each player is dealt 6 cards. The remainder of the deck is placed face down. The players then take turns at play, keeping ve cards in their hand at all times. A “discard pile” should be started by the rst player, with cards face up next to the deck. At the beginning of the game, each player should add up the cards in their hand, and determine whether they need to draw higher cards or lower cards to total 42.
To play, each player must draw one new card and then discard one card from their hand. A player may draw a card from the deck or pick up the top card in the “discard pile”. For this game, the Ra card will always have a value equal to 1. In the rst turn of play, players may “pass” their turn if they want to keep the cards in their hand. Play continues until a player “calls” the game or until the deck (draw) runs out.
The player who has the hand of cards coming to the value of 42 wins.
Optional Rule:
To use the wild cards for this game, the dealer may set the value of the wild card before the hand is dealt. The value of the wild card can be any number from 1 to 10.
Thirty-Three (33)
The object of this game is to acquire a hand that is equal to 33. This game involves acquiring any 3 of the number 11 cards and the Pharaoh and Rah card. The Pharaoh and Rah card must be from the same suit. Five cards are dealt to respective players. The deck is placed face down with one card face up next to it. The first player must either pick up the face card or pick from the deck. If the player does either he must dispose of one of the cards in his hand. Play continues until the combination of cards required to have a 33 is met.
Mastaba (Building Mounds)
The object of this game is to use all cards in the deck to build up the four suit stacks in ascending order beginning with Ra cards (similar to Solitaire). Lay rows of cards out from left to right. The first card is laid face-up. The next row has 2 cards with one face up and the next has three cards and so forth. The last row will have 7 cards with one card face up. The laid out cards are the base.
The remaining deck is placed to the side face down. These will be the cards that are drawn from. The object of the game is to match cards of different suits or rank to build a mound and place on the cornerstone. The cornerstone cards are placed along the bottom of the rows. Any card including the high cards may be placed on top of another card in a descending value, but it has to be of a different suit. For example, if Pharaoh of Pyramid is in the pile the next card would be Queen of Ankh, Sphinx or Nu. If the top card is a Ra card, this card must be placed aside on the bottom to the rows.
Optional Rules:
The order of the high cards (face cards) with the exception of the Ra card may be placed in any order, but must be of alternating suit or substitute the Doghead and Mummy cards for any one of the high cards.
Gin Mummy
The object of this game is to form in one’s hand matched sets consisting of groups of four cards and the Mummy card. This game involves obtaining any four of the four high cards of similar suit (Ra, Pharaoh, Queen, Priest) or numerical cards in sequential value (groups of 3 of a kind and the Mummy. Five cards are dealt to each player. Each player takes a turn drawing a card from the deck either choosing to keep the drawn card or place it down face up. Player takes his turn in sequence. The first player to obtain any 4 of any high cards or a sequence of cards (4, 5, 6, 7 or 8, 9, 10, 11) and Mummy wins.
Optional Rule:
The doghead card may be substituted for any one of the high cards.
Primes
The object of this game is to collect a hand of cards that are all prime numbers. For example, the Rah, 3, 5, 7 and 11 all of which must be from the same suit. Five cards are dealt to each player. Play progresses as each player picks a card from the deck and disposes or keeps the drawn card. The first player to obtain the numbers from one suit wins.
